Ranging from poster presentations, to symposium, to the half day Social Justice Leadership Project, to the California Counseling Association activities, SFSU was a visible force. More than 20 students volunteered throughout the events, and many presented professional level poster and symposia as well. Dr. Rebecca Toporek, Coordinator of the Career Counseling Specialization at San Francisco State University, was honored as a Fellow of the American Counseling Association.

SFSU Advanced Career Counseling Students Offer Resume Clinic for Project Homeless Connect

February 15, SFSU Department of Counseling, in partnership with Tenderloin Workforce Center and City of San Francisco, offered Project Homeless Connect clients on the spot resume services. The day was filled with all kinds of challenges and some very thankful people. Dr. Rebecca Toporek has volunteered with Employment Services at Project Homeless Connect for the past several years but this was the first time the Advanced Career Counseling class integrated the service project into the curriculum. The response from clients, the Employment Services staff, and the employment related agencies was so positive that this will continue to be an annual effort of the Career Specialization program.
